Examining the Microclimate Pattern and Related Spatial Perception of the Urban Stormwater Management Landscape: The Case of Rain Gardens

This study examines the microclimate pattern and related spatial perception of urban green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) management landscape, using rain gardens as a case study. It investigates relationship between different garden design factors, such scale, depth, planting design, their effects on patterns human perception. Taking an area in Blacksburg, Virginia, site, twelve scenarios are generated by combining factors. The potential air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed/direction analyzed through computational simulation. Additionally, feelings comfort, visual beauty overall favorite used evaluation index to investigate people’s various options. found that multilayer complex can add more areas with moderate temperature higher humidity. also significantly improves subjective garden. Furthermore, larger scale make people feel comfortable improve highlighting importance designing recreational bioretention cells GSI systems.
